Finally we are back on track and would enjoy the EPL every weekend from now on, as well as every other major league in Europe.
Few things every sports bettor has to be aware before we continue.
African cup is on at the moment so make sure you inform yourself which teams have African players and will be missing them.
Sometimes that plays an important role when making your picks.
Also have in mind that the German Bundesliga is just starting.
After such a long break unexpected outcomes are possible and will be present for sure. So let’s look at the games that are offered to us today:
Stoke v Liverpool 16/01/2010 12:45 GMT
Tottenham v Hull 16/01/2010 15:00 GMT
Chelsea v Sunderland 16/01/2010 15:00 GMT
Manchester United v Burnley 16/01/2010 15:00 GMT
Wolverhampton v Wigan 16/01/2010 15:00 GMT
Portsmouth v Birmingham 16/01/2010 15:00 GMT
Everton v Manchester City 16/01/2010 17:30 GMT
First on the list would be Stoke v Liverpool ! What can I say, Liverpool lost everything there’s to loose! They would only have one place to play and that is the Europa League. Although they seem to have no problems with Stoke City, their shape is horrible, and any team that can loose from Reading can loose from an EPL team.
Stoke City are currently 10th in the table with 25 points, Liverpool is ahead of them with 33. Stoke has won the last round vs Fulham at home, but seems to struggle at home with a loss against the brilliant this year Birmingham and a tie versus Wigan. Liverpool hasn’t won an away game since November 29th 2009. It’s really a tough call here they lost visiting Portsmouth with 2:0! Did they learn their lesson, or will they keep on loosing points.
My pick would be an away win for Liverpool, because if they want to stay at least in the top half of the table, they have to win… Every point lost from now on will bring them farther apart from the Top 4 and closer to the mid table. It’s a scary thought, so scary that will stimulate them in my opinion.
Next on the list are Tottenham v Hull. Personally I do not think this game is worth playing unless you are looking for an odd surprise. Knowing how well Tottenham are playing this year I doubt this is going to happen! I would keep this game away from my betting slip since I don’t play low odd games.
Tho make the long story short I will skip:
Chelsea v Sunderland 16/01/2010 15:00 GMT
Manchester United v Burnley 16/01/2010 15:00 GMT
You can’t expect top teams to screw up every time especially after screwing up already
So let’s move on to the next game which is Wolverhampton v Wigan. These two teams have played only three times against each other. One tie and a win for each. However Wolverhampton’s win was this season. They might not be the best host, but Wigan is one of the worst guests this season. Without much hesitation my pick for this game would be a home win for Wolverhampton.
Next is the match between Portsmouth v Birmingham. Birmingham is doing a wonderful job this season. Currently taking the 8th spot they are breathing in Liverpool’s neck, and a possible win here will keep them neck to neck. Portsmouth on the other hand are close to bankrupt. The financial status is reflecting directly on the teams performance and currently they are last with 14 points.
Their only joy was when they managed to beat Liverpool, but that was about it. My pick would be an away victory for Birmingham, proving that they are in top shape this year and would want a piece of the Europa League for the next year if they manage to get higher in the table.
Last but not least is the match between Everton v Manchester City. Although these two teams have quite a history, I wouldn’t be so sure that I can apply it here. Everton was near the top teams in the previous years, while Manchester City never had so much money invested in it.
Looking over the past few games, after Mancini took the team, everything is looking good. Although they played with mid-table teams, I think this actually might be their first real challenge, and we would be able to see their true shape. Everton has tied versus most of the top teams like Chelsea,Arsenal and Tottenham. Although I would wanna go for the draw here, my pick would be an away victory for Manchester City.
These are the English Premier League games for tomorrow. Good luck to all sports betting fan! Remember to have fun
