Tottenham v Arsenal: Spurs to claim victory in North London derby

The first North London derby of the season takes place this Sunday as Arsenal travel to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham. Arsenal have finally gotten a bit of form together after winning three games on the bounce in all competitions but they have a tough task ahead of them against a Spurs side who are climbing up the table with three league wins in a row.

Tottenham are favourites in the match odds at 11/10 with Unibet while an Arsenal victory is 12/5 and a draw offered at 23/10.

The pressure has been relieved slightly on Arsene Wenger in recent weeks but he might have a lot of explaining to do once again if his team suffer a heavy defeat on Sunday. The Gunners still look very shaky at the back while their midfield has been depleted due to injuries. Olympiakos caused them some problems in the Champions league midweek and the 2-1 win wasn’t a wholly convincing performance from side Wenger put out.

Arsenal are coming off the back of 3-0 win at home to Bolton but not much can really be taken from that match as the Trotters have been one of the worst teams in the league so far this season. It is the Gunners away form that has been worrying most and their last trip on the road they lost in dramatic fashion to Blackburn Rovers. 2-1 up early on, Arsenal ended up losing the game 4-3 and dropping another crucial three points. Once again this side was unable to see a game out and suffered from a severed lack of concentration.

After their opening two losses in this season’s league campaign, Spurs have now won their last three fixtures and are edging their way back up the table towards to where they want to be in the top-four. Wins away to Wolves and Wigan will have pleased boss Harry Redknapp but it was the dismantling of Liverpool at White Hart Lane which was the most impressive win. Spurs routed Kenny Dalglish’s side 4-0 in a dominating display and Redknapp will be hoping to do something similar to Arsenal on Sunday.

Spurs have been much better than Arsenal the last few weeks and it is very difficult to see them not coming away with all three points on Sunday. Spurs are a strong side at home as they showed against Liverpool while Arsenal have really struggled away from home this season. They have drawn one and lost twice on the road and also conceded 12 goals.

The North London derby is always packed with goals and in just two of their last 15 there have been fewer than three goals scored.
