Tottenham meets Manchester City on White Hart Lane, on Sunday August 28th 2011 at 13:30 UK time
This game is included in the PaddyPower’s Premier League specials for this round. Read more about the promotions here.
Tottenham
Tottenham missed the first round of Premier League, because of the London riots, and therefore has a game less than the rest of the teams ( except Everton, who were to play with the Spurs on that first day of EPL ). In Rounds 2 Tottenham met Manchester United, on Old Trafford and logically lost, putting the team on the last place at this phase with 0 points. Tottenham passed through Hearts easily in the Europa League play-offs and will participate in the groups stage of the tournament. Tottenham acquired some new “firepower” by taking on a loan a very familiar face to the English fans Emmanuel Adebayor. To secure their net the team bought Brad Friedel from Aston Villa.
Manchester City
Manchester City are the current Premier League leader, taking the top spot with 6 points and a goal difference of 7:2, which puts them on the number one spot (United also has 6 points but a 5:1 goal difference). Manchester City demolished the newcomer Swansea in the first rounds with 4:0, and won over Bolton in the second round with 3:2. The team will participate in a tough group in Champions League this year, next to the teams of Bayern Munich, Napoli and Villarreal. Biggest transfer for City during the summer, Sergio Aguero for €45m, who already has scored 2 goals in 1 match. Newest acquisition Samir Nasri.
Prediction
Without doubt this will be tough game for both teams. Tottenham had squad problems, but the latest news say that Luka Modric will play tomorrow, which is great for all Spur fans and for the team as well. Adebayor will surely boost the attack a he hope for a fresh start in Tottenham, after a fail season in Manchester City and in Real Madrid as well.

Only one victory for Manchester City here, back in 2003 and 3 draws. Seems like this stadium is not a very pleasant place for City. Six of the ten Tottenham victories here have finished with the score 2:1. The odds for that exact score are @ 11.00 (bet365).
Despite the fact that Manchester City is on the leading spot, they haven’t faced a major team, until now. I expect the Spurs to be desperate for points here and put everything they’ve got on this game. They simply cannot afford to drop another 3 points and remain on the bottom of the table.
City sure has the advantage, in terms of players and cash, favored by the sportsbooks with odds of 2.50 for an away victory. The draw is priced @ 3.30, and this is the latest score here (0:0) from last season.
Remember that bet365 will refund your wager if the games ends 0:0 on the following betting markets: Correct Score, Half-Time/Full-Time or Scorecast (without Anytime Scorecast).
My prediction, victory for Tottenham.
