In round 3 Tottenham will meet the team of Wigan. The last game between these two teams ended 9:1 and I am pretty sure Wigan would like not to remember that.
What was interesting about the games, was that most goals came in the second half. So far Wigan are in shock, loosing from Blackpool at home with 0:4, and away from Chelsea with 6:0. When you add up their last game from the season against Chelsea and that 8:0, they have got 18 goals in their net just from 3 premier league games, and have scored 0.
That’s pretty horrible statistic and logically the team is taking the last spot with 0 points and the goal difference of 0-10.
Tottenham can relax, now they’ve got into the groups of Champions League, it’s time to focus on the Premier League again. After finishing 4th last season, the team will sure try to achieve the same if not better this year as well.
On this stadium, Manchester City was able to pull-off a 0:0, however the Spurs played a great game and only City’s goalie Joe Hart saved them from a miserable loss.
And again on this very stadium Tottenham was able to beat Young Boys with 4:0 and qualify for the groups of Champions League.
In the past ten years, when these two teams have played, Tottenham has remained unbeaten. Out of the six games played here they have won 4 and tied 2. The two most recent games were devastating wins with 9:1 and 3:1. Taking into consideration Wigan’s current shape, I will not be surprised if we see a higher score today as well.
What to expect from this game?
We have a great Tottenham at home, and I believe they will play their game today. Wigan has a lot of issues and so far has been pushed around by everybody, even newly promoted teams. Can they end the black series or will they continue to take a loss after loss?
I doubt that this will happen today, especially after what Tottenham showed us on Wednesday.
The Betting Verdict?
Over 3.5 Goals @ 2.28 (Betfair.com): A risky bet, but the odds are great and probability of coming out as well. If Wigan can loose with 0:4 against Blackpool at home, they can certainly loose with more against Tottenham on their turf.
