Just two days after Real Madrid has won Copa del Rey on Mestalla in Valencia, the team from Madrid will visit Valencia for a game in Primera Division. In three days comes Champions League.

Valencia are comfortably sitting on the 3rd spot, with 63 points, 6 points ahead of the 4th Villarreal and some 14 points away from the second Real Madrid. The has a home record of W9 D4 L3, scoring 28 goals in those games and conceding 15. Valencia has won 2 and lost 2 of the games at home against the Top 6 teams in the table this season. Most recent victory against Villarreal with 5:0, preceded by losses to Sevilla with 0:1 and Barcelona 0:1, and a victory against Athletic Bilbao with 2:1 in February.

Real Madrid has finally something to be happy about, this season, winning Copa del Rey on Wednesday against Barcelona, with 1:0 in Extra time. This is the first time they win this Cup since season ’92-93. While the battle for the title is lost, two upcoming Champions League semi finals again, against Barcelona are awaiting the team. The first game will be on Wednesday, April 27th, which is 3 days after this game.

Considering that Real Madrid threw a lot of physical power and effort in the game on Wednesday, do not be surprised if we do not see any of the starters in this one. In fact, do not be surprised if the squad and the strategy for this game differ from any other away game Real has played. Since the title at this point is far less important, mainly because the difference between Real and Barcelona is 8 points, all concentration and efforts are saved for Champions League.

The only question is, will Valencia be able to win? I think so, let’s take a look at the past games on Mestalla:

12/12/2009 Valencia vs. Real Madrid 2:3
09/05/2009 Valencia vs. Real Madrid 3:0
31/10/2007 Valencia vs. Real Madrid 1:5
26/11/2006 Valencia vs. Real Madrid 0:1
11/03/2006 Valencia vs. Real Madrid 0:0
05/03/2005 Valencia vs. Real Madrid 1:1
27/09/2003 Valencia vs. Real Madrid 2:0

Overall, six to eight victories in favor of Real Madrid and 4 draws. If Valencia are looking for an opportunity to increase their difference with Villarreal who are visiting Sevilla, but have an upcoming Europa League semi-final on Thursday, and will most likely be entirely focused on that, this is it.

The odds are great, and it’s only logical to be looking for that home win. My prediction, back Valencia to win. Good luck betting.
