The battle of David and Goliath, the last against, the first team in Premier League.
West Ham started the season, horribly loosing all three games against Manchester United with 0:3, against Bolton at home with 1:3 and against Aston Villa with 0:3. The Hammers managed to score only one goal in those 3 games. The team really needs to start gathering points if they want to stay in Premier League next year as well.
As we all remember, West Ham barely got out of the red zone last year, only a few points away from the 3rd on the bottom. However manager Zola was released as manager and Avram Grant was appointed for his replacement.
Grant had already been in charge of Chelsea, so perhaps he knows a thing or two about that team, the question will be if he can counter the unstoppable force. Chelsea won the first three games, keeping their net clean, and scoring 14 goals in those games.
Only one team has stopped Chelsea from scoring in the Blues’ last 24 Premier League games on the road (Birmingham City in December 2009).
A disturbing statistic for the Hammers is that they have won none of their last 11 London derbies in the Premier League. Last victory over Chelsea was back in 2003 with 1:0.
Last home game in December 2009 ended 1:1, which gives West Ham a hope that they can get out at least a point on Saturday. Last 4 out of 5 away games for Chelsea in the Premier League have ended Over 2.5 Goals, while the number for the Hammers is 2.
The Betting Verdict?
Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.61 (Register at Betfair.com – 25£ Sign up Bonus): Due to the low odds for Chelsea win, I started looking for another safe yet a bit more rewarding wager. Over 2.5 goals seems good enough due to the fact that Chelsea scores at least 2.83 goals on the average in away games, in the past 6 games. West Ham is horrible in this season, but will sure want to score at least one here. After loosing with 1:3 to Bolton few weeks ago, I think they are up for another similar game, with a similar score.
